It has been almost 6 weeks since my arrival in Spain...Wow time flies! Up until this point I have found the Basque Country an amazing place to live. Having not much information thus far about Europe, I am eager to experience more. So far the Basque Country is just a mere glimpse of the world around me. I am curious to learn more and experience this portion of the world as in depth as possible. I have been reading non-stop about places to visit, things to do, and experiences to be had. It feels as though I have so much to do and so little time to do it all! I know that my time in Europe can be infinite, but I feel as though I can never achieve everything I want to. I know I am only 23 years old, and I have all the time ahead of me, but I don´t want to think like that. People always tell me I am so young and I have all the time in the world to accomplish my goals, but to me there is no better time than the present. Traveling has become my goal (for right now anyway) and my goal is to see and do as much as I can while I can. But the mere destination isn´t what I am yearning for. I find paradise to be something more than just a city you visit or a beach to relax on. I find it to be how you feel when you are there. And that is exactly what traveling has inspired in me. It´s not the destination. It´s the journey. It's always the journey...
The journey transforms you, enlightens you. It forces you to reflect on your life and shows you who you really are and what you are capable of. The destination is the reward. It´s the light at the end of the tunnel or the top of the mountain peak. It´s what you receive after you´ve battled through the jungle in Thailand or exhausted yourself on a trek in the Adirondacks. It´s the feeling of pride and accomplishment. It´s the rush of adrenaline after you bungy off a bridge in New Zealand. It´s everything I hope for and I thrive on it. I´ve learned a lot about myself over the years. Some things I am still working on to improve who I am, but those things take time. Traveling (as well as teaching) has taught me patience, understanding, and most of all gratitude. I am so thankful for the opportunities I have been given and the strength that I have found within myself to pursue them. I hope everyone finds a passion in their life and finds the courage to pursue their dreams. Fear can be paralyzing. Often times, this fear can be overwhelming and restrict you from accomplishing your dreams, but you cannot let it define your life. The things that are most important to you need to be your priority in life. Only then will you truly find happiness.
I aspire to develop this blog and create the essential tools necessary for anyone interested in traveling and/or teaching abroad. By thoroughly honing in on my experiences and documenting what I have learned, I hope to educate my audience on traveling abroad and create a more interactive website. If you have comments, ideas or questions. Please post them here! I am curious to learn more from people out there and get more ideas for articles to incorporate on this blog. Thanks for reading and I hope you return again real soon :)
