Teaching in Korea
As I have stated in my previous post, South Korea has both great opportunity and prospects to offer any expat searching for employment abroad. Unfortunately, my experience was one that very few get thrown into. I did little research and was just so eager to get on a plane and leave that I didn't prepare for what was ahead. I trust people too much. I felt that there was no way a business would exploit teachers who came so far from home to benefit their institution. Boy, was I wrong. Instead of the normal 20 classes a week that public school teachers are issued, I was granted 39 classes a week. With the exact same pay check as those before-mentioned public school teachers. They sucked me dry to say the least. I was drained completely. I had no energy to deal with these children for 40 hours a week, let alone when half of that time was dedicated to kindergartners...FML.
Ok no more venting. I merely just wanted to voice my opinion so those out there won't make the same mistake I did. So, instead of hammering the school I worked for into the ground (hgmm...SLP), I have compiled a list of reputable agencies that will ensure a happy placement in Korea.
